The Construction Mentor Program - MADISON TVHS 2019-2020
THE COMPLIANCE MENTOR GROUP, LLC     APPLICATION INSTRUCTION

TCMG OVERVIEW

The Compliance Mentor Group or TCMG is a minority and women owned business that specializes in workforce compliance services and educational development programs within the Architecture Engineer and Construction (AEC) Industries. Organized around our signature workforce development program, The Construction Mentor Program, strategic partnerships, and a collaborative platform; TCMG has directly improved workforce numbers and equal employment opportunities for residents, minorities, women, apprentices and youth during a construction project’s life cycle.

HOW THE CMP WORKS

The CMP introduces high school seniors, post-secondary school students and young adults in workforce development programs, over an academic year, to the construction and real estate industries through use of authentic learning experiences and teachable moments with industry mentors on construction and facility management project sites.

The CMP’s goals are to create career exploration opportunities, show the linkage between academic studies to STEM careers and personal advocacy for young people interested in the AEC industries; while also out-reaching to a demographically diverse group of young people who may not have access, opportunity or knowledge of careers in the AEC industries.

2019-2020 CMP PROJECTS

During the 2019-2020 academic year TCMG will be implementing the CMP programming on four construction projects which are listed below.

Project # 1 Walsh Brothers, Incorporated is a Boston based construction management firm who is building the New Vassar Street Residence Hall Project on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) campus. This new residence hall will add 450 beds and 12 Graduate Resident Tutor apartments to MIT’s housing inventory. The program design includes rooms arranged in “clusters” of 35-38 students in a mix of singles and doubles with shared community spaces such as lounges and study rooms. Residents will also enjoy larger shared community spaces such as study lounges, music rooms, a private courtyard, and other flexible spaces.

Project # 2 AECOM Tishman Construction fully integrated global infrastructure firm that designs, builds, finances and operates infrastructure assets. They are building the Residential Tower project at Bulfinch Crossing. This project is one of several multi-phased projects planned to replace the existing above grade concrete garage, located at Bulfinch Crossing in downtown Boston. At a height of 480 feet, the Bulfinch Crossing’s Residential High-Rise Tower will consist of 368 apartment units and 55 for sale condominiums. This tower is envisioned as one of the best-in-class residential properties in Boston.

Project # 3 John Moriarty & Associates has grown to become one of the most respected construction management firms on the East coast, with a track record of delivering a predictable result on a wide variety of project types across a large geographical area. They are building the One Congress project, which is also part of the Bulfinch Crossing development and will be the iconic anchor of Bulfinch Crossing rising to 600 feet. One Congress will offer 1 million square-foot commercial tower space and become one of the most desired business addresses in Boston.

Project # 4 Harvard Divinity School is undergoing a comprehensive renovation of Swartz Hall. Shawmut Design and Construction is the awarded construction management firm. Shawmut is a nationally recognized company with offices throughout the country offering project management services across a variety of industries from academic, corporate, healthcare, museums, hospitality and retail. The Swartz Hall design program includes renovating existing and adding new classrooms, meeting rooms and common spaces with food service. The project will restore and upgrade the building envelope, achieve full compliance with current building life safety / accessibility code requirements and upgrade the building for energy efficiency and sustainability. Additionally, the renovation includes re-configuration of the mezzanine floor into a new multi-faith worship space.
