Paul E. Dietel is the Director of Capital Programs at the Harvard Business School in Boston where he provides management oversight for a staff of professionals responsible for the design and construction of all Capital building projects on campus. He is an advocate and strong supporter of programs that educate and provide pathways to design and construction careers for disadvantaged youths and young adults. To that end, Paul sits on the advisory board of the Compliance Mentor Group’s Construction Mentor Program (CMP) and works to ensure that the CMP is integrated into Capital building project at HBS. The CMP has been successfully included in several major building projects at HBS, which has resulted in job placements of several program participants.

Following graduation from a vocational technical high school where he was trained as a carpenter, Paul graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology and is a licensed Construction Supervisor. Prior to working at HBS, he worked at Tishman Construction in Boston and then at Brown University for 17 years, first as a Project Manager and then as Director of Project Management. Paul has overseen the successful completion of numerous Capital projects in the higher education setting, a sample of which include: Sidney Frank Hall for Life Sciences (Brown), Warren Alpert Medical Education Building (Brown), Granoff Center for Creative Arts (Brown), Stephen Roberts Campus Center (Brown), Nelson Fitness and Coleman Aquatics Center (Brown), Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology (Brown), Miller and Metcalf Hall renovations (Brown), Tata Hall Executive Education Center (HBS), Esteves Hall (HBS), Crimson Commons Dining Facility (HBS), the McArthur Hall Renovation (HBS), the Ruth Mulan Chu Chao Center (HBS) and he is currently in construction on the Klarman Hall global convening center project at HBS.

Paul’s passion is ensuring the quality and consistency of the project management process as the backbone to the successful delivery of complex projects. Over the past several years has developed a suite of project controls and management tools that have ensured the on-time and on-budget completion of the projects that he has overseen. Outside of work, you will find Paul camping, fishing, hiking, mountain biking or travelling with his family.
