Lytania Mackey
Director of Technology, Swampscott High School

A science educator since earning her Bachelors degree in biology from Merrimack College in 2001, Lytania has spent the last 15 years teaching and working as a school administrator for the Swampscott School District. She started in the middle school teaching 8th grade science, then transitioned to the high school five years later, teaching biology then moved into an administrative role as the assistant principal and in 2016 she accepted a new role as the District’s Director of Technology. In addition, to her fulltime work as an educational administrator, Lytania has also recently launched a new business venture teaching adults computer skills.

In 2006 Lytania earned her M.Ed. in technology in education from Lesley University. She recently completed a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Education Leadership from Northeastern University and is a doctoral candidate there with a concentration in organizational leadership. Lytania is passionate about working with professional development and curriculum, new teachers, and technology. Lytania has active roles on several committees for the Massachusetts Secondary School Administrators Association (MSSAA). She enjoys working with educators from around the state to improve teaching and learning.

TCMG is fortunate to have Lytania serve on our advisory board not only for her rich academic and relevant work experience but also for her history with TCMG’s Construction Mentor Program (CMP). Lytania spent two summers as a Youth Mentor Program Coordinator for the CMP during its 2009 pilot and 2010 follow-up year. Lytania’s role as daily administrator gave her a true understanding of the program’s mission and goals as well as a passion for its continued success.
