Dr. Laval S. Wilson has had a long and distinguished career as an educator and administrator in public schools across the nation. He served a superintendent for 36 years and served as the Chief School Officer in some of the most unique school systems in the nation before retiring in 2012. He has been a superintendent in East Orange, New Jersey; Poughkeepsie, New York, Newburgh, New York; Boston, Massachusetts; Rochester, New York; Berkeley, California; and Hempstead, New York. As the State District Superintendent in the Paterson School System, he served concurrently as Superintendent, Board President, Board of Education, and Secretary of the Board of Education.

He also served from 2002 to 2006 as one of the five state appointed Board Members of the Roosevelt, New York Board of Education. Dr. Wilson has a performance record of restructuring school systems, initiating innovative programs, creating small learning communities or theme based programs, realigning curriculum, and the implementation of "More-Time-On-Task" instruction for academically needy students. Dr. Wilson also has a track record of establishing accountability in school systems and improving business operations. The advisory board is extremely fortunate to have the insight offered by Dr. Wilson.
